The Valais Nature Museum has opened its new exhibition rooms in the two former buildings of the Archaeological Museum, Rue des Châteaux 12, in the spring of 2013. Under the general heading of «Man and Nature in the Valais», the presentation tries to clarify the relationship between the inhabitants of the Valais and their environment, during past and present times.

Through a presentation that emphasizes sensitive evocation, visitors are invited to be faced directly with the various aspects of their environment. They are transposed in the midst of the natural environments of the Valais, with their typical fauna and flora, which are presented as being both the basis of biodiversity and human activity. Didactic features permit either a rapid but informed reading of the general message or a thorough knowledge acquisition. A the end of the visit, visitors will be equipped to assess the quality of their environment and question the increasing exploitation of natural resources.
