Montorge

At the top of the rocky crest of Montorge, situated at the northwestside of Sion, we find ruins of a castle built around 1230 by the Count Aymon of Savoy. For over two hundred years there were incessant fights between the Bishop of Sion and the Count of Savoy to occupy the castle.

It was finaly burnt down in 1417 during the war of Rarogne, and today you can only see ruins. The charm of the place and the beautiful panorama you can enjoy from this point are worth seeing.
