The old town

With its narrow streets and alleys climbing the hill towards the castles and museums, the medieval Old Town is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Switzerland. It is also one of the country’s most vibrant towns with dozens of small shops, restaurants and terraces where you can bask in the sun at anytime of the year.

In summer, the streets transform into a concertand performance hall, as the life of the city is punctuated by a large number of events. Visitors never miss the opportunity to climb aboard one of the Smartshuttles, the first driverless vehicles to mingle with normal traffic.
